Gums and CBD!

Not bubble gum but the gums in your mouth!  Did you know that CBD could help with gum disease? To answer this question…  of course it can be beneficial, what does CBD not do!!!  Let’s dig a bit deeper.

Cannabidiol or better known as CBD can help with oral hygiene by regulating the endocannabinoid system.  The endocannabinoid system is responsible for important modulatory systems in the function of brain, endocrine, and immune tissues. It also appears to play a very important regulatory role in the secretion of hormones related to reproductive functions and response to stress.  As well as those very important roles CBD is known for its antifungal and antibacterial properties. You can drop a few drops of CBD oil on your toothbrush or take it sublingually to help your mouth heal from the damage caused by the bacteria or fungus growth.  CBD has been shown to heal damaged tissues and decrease the inflammation.

Gingivitis for example is treatable by using an antibacterial or by strengthening your oral hygiene routine.  CBD is a natural anti inflammatory which can help with the inflammation in the gums along with what we previously mentioned being full of antifungal and antibacterial properties.

Cannabidiol has also been shown to be effective against the oral bacteria Streptococcus mutans specifically. By adding CBD to your oral hygiene routine, you can help fight off the bacteria trying to erode your teeth. There have been reports of people having great results with decay by using CBD.  However, this still needs to be studied before dentists will start proclaiming it as a solution of course.  As Cannabis in all forms becomes more and more mainstream we will be able to have more information and studies to support it.  We at Legal Hippie cannot wait!

Of course if you are having issues contact a professional but adding CBD to your oral hygiene could be beneficial!
